Casinos are encouraging more people to play blackjack. The latest trend is to go poolside.

A twist to traditional blackjack taking blackjack to the swimming pool is the latest trend in the world of casino gambling. This is done so visitors can have a swim and play a few rounds of blackjack at the same time. By combining the pool with blackjack it becomes a new gaming attraction. It started at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and already some casinos hopped on the bandwagon. Those other casinos are Tropicana Casino and Harrah’s; both are located in Atlantic City and five more casinos in Las Vegas. Go from playing blackjack in the building to blackjack in the water. It’s set up with a dealer on the inside or outside of the pool while the players are inside. None of the players swim during the game. Place bets and play like normal blackjack. It’s that simple.

Except that it isn’t. Don’t expect to win big. The odds of winning in the water are worse than winning inside. Plus the rules change. For one the double down rule only exists with a 10 or 11 in hand. The minimum bets are between $15-25 depending on the time of day. There are no such restrictions inside for either. Also the dealer, whether male or female, may wear skimpy outfits to distract you from winning. With the downside poolside blackjack is a big hit at Caesar’s hence the poolside craze.

If this trend is successful expect it to be part of the norm for a long time.
